So of course everybody knows the song “Manic Monday” by The Bangles. We’ve all been there, weekends over…we got to wake up early…go to work….it’s difficult trying to start a new week after a great weekend. My only problem with the scenerio is the lyric “I wish it was Sunday”. Hold on a second, if you have such a strong hatred for Mondays that you would write a hit song about it….yes I said “hit song”….then why on God’s Earth would you want it to be Sunday again? Shit, I’d be wishing it was Tuesday, cause at least then I’d have another 5 days before I had to deal with the dreadful case of the Mondays. So be careful what you wish for today because it just might come true tomorrow…..
Now before you start a manhunt for me with Al Gore holding the torch, please finish reading before making any rational decisions. Let me start by saying that I do recycle….plastic, paper, leftover pasta from Monday, everything I can find! My gripe with recycling is the constant nagging by every organization on the planet to “buy recycled materials”. On the surface this sounds like a fantastic idea…”of course it is, why wouldn’t it be? “. I’m gonna tell you why. We buy recycled materials, use them, recycle them, and the circle of life continues…however, while this scheme is taking place, millions of trees and natural resources have already been used to produce materials that have not been made from recycled materials. So what good is it doing for the environment to destroy these resources, and then not use them. I say buy non- recycled materials, use them, and recycle them. I’m pretty sure mother nature is pretty pissed that we destroy rain forests for the hell of it, then wipe our asses with toilet paper that used to be a Cap’n Crunch cereal box.
